Covering historical details such as the development of the two-party system and the advent of third-party candidates throughout US history, DemoCRIPS and ReBLOODlicans exposes how the two-major parties, acting like a gang-land cabal, have allowed corporations, businesses and politically-motivated wealthy individuals to manipulate elections, bribe elected officials and, in short, silence the average American voter. Exposing the ineptitude of both parties at insuring the integrity and vitality of American democracy, Jesse Ventura advocates the replacement of the two-party system for a no party system based on the ideals of our Founding Fathers. As election time rolls around, this is most certainly the book that should be looked at for reforming our electorate system. I liked how he took on the FCC and would also have liked to have read more about his thoughts on that impotent department. The terms "Democrips" and "Rebloodlicans" is creative and fun and he utilizes them throughout the book. Linking the big donors with the parties adds context and his defense of Ron Paul makes sense.
A fun, quick read if you like Jesse or thought he was interesting at times. Although I found it to ramble slightly in the middle, the majority of information presented was very good. No matter what party you align yourself with, you should be able to realize that our current system is nothing more than the rich helping the rich. Over and over and over again we allow officials with clear conflict of interests to pass bills and laws for us.
One thing this book does well is show that our government is a total racket, no matter how you look I definitely enjoyed this book. One thing this book does well is show that our government is a total racket, no matter how you look at it. Ventura is right on the mark. Until we close the gap on the "very rich" and the middle class, there is never going to be an equality of wealth among us. We need to get people in the White House like there used to be back in the day who actually cared about the people and not about how much more money they could make or tax breaks.
Good read! May 09, Lana Bradstream rated it really liked it Ventura makes some solid arguments. This is a wonderful book for those who have become disillusioned with our current political system.
It would have been stronger without his endorsement of a candidate.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why? What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative? While the references to gangs was a bit of a stretch at times, there were many examples of how Democrats and Republicans have worked to retain power rather than helping the nation. The narrator is good, but I would have liked it more if Jesse did his own narration. He has got most of the facts right, but he really does not understand the root cause of all that corruption. We cannot fix the problem by getting rid of the 2 parties or changing to a multiparty system, a la Europe.
