Kull lived in an age before the ocean drank Atlantis and Bran Mak Morn lives in England around the time the Romans came. The answer is simple: Magic. Kull was a swords and sorcery character Howard created a few years before Conan and it shows, both in terms of concept and writing. Not to say the writing is bad. Where was I? Oh yeah, Kull.
Kull is a barbarian who became a king and struggles between his savage ways and the statecraft involved in managing a kingdom. When we catch up to Bran Mak Morn, the Picts have declined almost to the point of extinction. Kull plays along with the sorcerer and soon ends up in command of a band of Norsemen against the Romans. Fictional character biography[ edit ] Life in Atlantis[ edit ] Kull was born in pre-cataclysmic Atlantis c. East of Atlantis lay the ancient continent of Thuria , of which the northwest portion is divided among several civilized kingdoms. Note that the word "Thuria" never appears in any of the Kull stories. Both the valley and tribe were destroyed by a flood while Kull was still a toddler, leaving the young Kull to live as a feral child for many years. Kull was captured by the Sea-Mountain tribe and eventually adopted by them. For this selfless act, Kull is exiled from Atlantis. Slave, pirate, outlaw, and gladiator[ edit ] Kull attempted to reach Thuria, but was instead captured by Lemurian Pirates.
